Coupler Style

Latches Onto a Hitch Ball

Filter by Fitment or Style

Coupler-style tow bars connect with a coupler that latches onto a ball or coupler mount on your motorhome. Safe and easy starts with the right weight: pick a bar rated at or above your towed vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), the number on the driver's door jamb sticker.

The other half of safe and easy is keeping the bar level. If your hitch and baseplate heights are more than 3 inches apart, add a drop receiver. Free shipping on orders over $100.

Coupler-Style Tow Bars -- Frequently Asked Questions

What is a coupler-style tow bar?
A coupler-style tow bar connects with a coupler -- like a trailer coupler -- that latches onto a ball or coupler mount on your motorhome. Many coupler-style bars mount and store on the towed vehicle rather than on the coach.
How do I know if I need coupler style?
Look at the back of your motorhome. If it has a hitch ball or coupler mount, coupler style is your match. A square receiver opening means receiver style, and a pintle hook means pintle style. Not sure? Send us a photo and we will tell you.
Which weight rating do I need?
Match the bar's rating to your towed vehicle's GVWR -- the door jamb number, not the curb weight. Most cars and mid-size SUVs are covered by 6,000 lb; larger vehicles step up to 8,000, 10,000, and on to 15,000 lb. When you are between sizes, size up.
Will a coupler-style bar fit my baseplate?
The coupler style is how the bar connects to your motorhome; the other end connects to your baseplate. Tell us your baseplate and your motorhome's hitch, and we will confirm the right bar before you buy.
Do I also need a supplemental braking system?
In most cases, yes. A supplemental brake applies the towed vehicle's brakes in step with your motorhome, shortens stopping distance, and is required by law in many US states and Canadian provinces. It is the most important safety add-on for any flat tow.
Do you ship to Canada, and how fast?
We ship across the United States and Canada. Most orders leave our warehouse within one business day, and orders over $100 ship free to the lower 48 states.

More About Coupler-Style Tow Bars

Coupler style is the right choice when your motorhome connects with a ball or coupler mount rather than a square receiver. It keeps flat towing safe and easy in two ways: match the bar's weight rating to your vehicle's GVWR, and keep the bar pulling level.

We carry coupler-style tow bars and the parts that go with them, and we are BBB A+ rated with a 96.5 customer satisfaction score and free shipping on orders over $100. Not sure which style your coach uses? We will help you confirm.

Safe and easy is the goal. Tell us your motorhome's hitch and what you tow, and we will match the right bar.
