Which Roadmaster tow bar is right for my vehicle?
It comes down to the weight of the vehicle you tow. Roadmaster's recreational tow bars range from the Falcon All-Terrain at 6,000 lbs -- plenty for most cars and mid-size SUVs -- up to the Nighthawk and Sterling All-Terrain at 8,000 lbs for larger SUVs and trucks, and the Falcon 3HD at 10,000 lbs for the heaviest. Most RVers are well covered by a 6,000-lb bar. Tell us what you tow and we will match it.
Will a Roadmaster tow bar work with my baseplate?
Often, yes. Many Roadmaster tow bars come in two versions -- one that connects to Roadmaster baseplates and one that connects to Blue Ox baseplates -- so if you already have a baseplate installed, you may not need to replace it. Tell us what you have and we will match the correct tow bar.
What makes Roadmaster tow bars easy to use?
Roadmaster's non-binding design lets the inner arms telescope, center, and lock automatically as you pull away -- no wrestling to line things up. A patented storage latch folds the bar against the motorhome when it is not in use, and the All-Terrain models release even when the bar is at an angle or under load.
How do I keep my Roadmaster setup level?
Your tow bar should pull within about 3 inches of level. Measure your motorhome's hitch height and your baseplate's tow bar connection -- if they differ by more than 3 inches, add a drop or rise receiver to bring it in line.
Do I also need a supplemental braking system?
In most cases, yes. A supplemental brake applies the towed vehicle's brakes in step with your motorhome, shortens stopping distance, and is required by law in many US states and Canadian provinces. Roadmaster offers its own systems, including the portable Even Brake and the permanently installed InvisiBrake.
