What is a Blue Ox Allure adapter and do I need one?
The
Blue Ox Allure is a pintle-style tow bar designed for heavy-capacity
flat towing. Unlike standard A-frame or receiver-style bars, the Allure connects via a
coupler on the motorhome that attaches to a lunette ring on the tow bar. The
Allure adapter series includes clevis adapters, receiver adapters, and
ball couplers that allow the Allure to connect to different motorhome hitch configurations.

What is a baseplate attachment tab and when do I need to replace one?
Baseplate attachment tabs (also called removable tabs or stowaway tabs)
are the steel arms that extend from your baseplate and connect to your tow bar arms. On
Blue Ox’s removable tab design, these tabs detach from the baseplate when you
unhitch — leaving just a small bracket on the front of the vehicle. Replace
attachment tabs if they are bent from a hard pull, show cracking around the mounting holes,
or have visible corrosion on the connection surfaces. Blue Ox offers tabs in three
lengths — 7.50″, 9.09″, and 11.49″ — to match different
baseplate and vehicle configurations.
What is a tow bar receiver stinger and when does it need replacement?
A
receiver stinger (also called a receiver tube or stinger assembly) is
the steel tube on a motorhome-mounted tow bar that inserts into your motorhome’s
receiver hitch. The Blue Ox Alpha 2 replacement stinger (BX88438) is the most commonly
ordered — replace it if the tube is bent, if the receiver pin hole is elongated from
wear, or if the tube shows significant corrosion. A worn stinger causes the tow bar to
rattle and can eventually damage the motorhome’s receiver. If you’re unsure
