What accessories do I actually need to flat tow?
The core is a baseplate, a tow bar, and a supplemental brake. From there, most setups also need tail light wiring so the towed vehicle shows brake lights and signals, safety cables as a backup connection, and often an adapter if your tow bar and baseplate are different brands. The rest -- locks, covers, a spare carrier -- is about security and convenience.
How do I know which adapter or drop receiver I need?
It depends on the brands of your tow bar and baseplate and on the height difference between your motorhome's hitch and your towed vehicle. The goal is to keep the tow bar close to level. Tell us what you are running and we will tell you the exact adapter or drop amount.
Is wiring for lights required by law?
In most states and provinces a towed vehicle must show working brake lights and turn signals, so a wiring or tail light kit is not optional -- it keeps you legal and visible. If you are not sure what your route requires, give us a call.
