Selecting Blue Ox Tow Bar Parts

When selecting a Blue Ox tow bar you need to take the tow weight capacity ratings into account as well as the tow bar’s features. Most vehicles fall into the 5,000 lbs. rating on the entry-level Blue Ox Tow Bar. So it then boils down to the features that will help you when connecting your tow vehicle to your RV.

There are basically two major types of Blue Ox RV tow bars:

  • Motorhome (RV) Mounted Tow Bars, which slide and pin directly into your RV hitch.
  • Tow Car / Vehicle Mounted Tow Bars, which are coupled to a tow ball in the RV hitch (extra parts).

Side note - Not all Blue Ox base plates work with all tow vehicle mounted Blue Ox tow bars. See Blue Ox base plate installation instructions for compatibility. Keep reading to learn more about each available Blue Ox tow bar.
